The Molecular Cytometry Unit at the University of Texas Medical
Branch at Galveston under the direction of Dr. James Leary and Mr.
Scott McLaughlin is seeking a Senior Research Assistant to conduct
flow cytometry/cell sorting and digital/confocal microscopy
experiments for members of the Unit and collaborators. The flow
cytometer/cell sorter is a state-of-the-art, home-built, multi-laser,
6-color fluorescence, high-speed instrument that will be used
primarily for complex multi-color fluorescence, rare-event analysis
and sorting for subsequent molecular characterization by PCR and FISH.
Flow and image data analyses are performed using a mix of commercial
and sophisticated home-built software on single- and multi-processing
computers with mono- and 3D stereo displays. We are seeking a person
with biology background to perform at a research level, including
running some experiments from basic cell preparation through data
analysis.
A minimum of a B.S. degree and three years full-time experience,
or equivalent, with flow cytometry instrumentation is required.
Considerable training will be given the successful candidate in
this area. Good interpersonal skills and reliability are essential.
Those interested should send a resume of education and
experience, and the names of three references to:
