Hi Marcia,
We have two copies of Cellquest version 1.2 (MacAPP 3.0.1 whatever that means)
used for offline analysis only; FACSconvert also installed & working with both.

These are currently running on:
P/Mac 7200/90 w/ System 7.5.3 (update 2.0)
P/Mac 6100/60 w/ System 7.1.2

Until a couple of months ago, we had an earlier version of CellQuest (v1.1?)
on the 6100 and a Mac IIci, both system 7.1
We upgraded to CellQuest 1.2 and moved one from the IIci to the 7200 at the
same time.

These programs run very well on each of these computers, even the IIci (slow),
but I do have two whinges.

1) For some very annoying reason of their own, BD designed CellQuest so that
it will not read datafiles from other programs, even BD's own LYSYS!
That means you must waste time and storage space converting files prior
to analysis, or get another expensive Mac just for acquisition.

2) CellQuest requires LOTS OF MEMORY!

Many users here insist on running both Cellquest and Canvas together, and
they will NOT run together in less than 16Mb of RAM.
Even in 16Mb, the system often refuses to print until one program is closed
down.

I suggest you budget in a minimum of 20Mb if you are planning to use CellQuest
seriously for presentation purposes as our users do.

The bottom line: I don't know of any Power Mac/System configuration that both
Cellquest and FACSconvert will not run on, provided it is analysis only.
(You do need to click OK to the warning about a missing library when Cellquest
starts, but that has no effect on analysis)

Lots of Luck, Joseph.
