There is no real way to compare these two instruments for sorting.
The BD Vantage would be comparable to the Coulter ELITE. The
FACScalibur is a very slow speed sorter that produces very large
volumes of sheath fluid containing a few cells. It is useful for
applications were only a few cells are needed - like PCR or
microscopy. In these types of cases it is easy to set up and does
not have the clogging problems of jet-in-air sorters.
